Lysine is an essential amino acid for several species, being the second most limiting amino acid for broilers, after Methionine, in diets based on corn and soybean meal. Its function is linked almost exclusively to the deposition of body protein. Lysine deficiency in the initial phase can delay the performance of the animal in the other phases, even with the correct balance in the later phases.
