Sodium formate appears as an alternative to sodium sources and, in addition to supplementing Na+, it has an antimicrobial action on the intestinal microbiota, as it is derived from formic acid. It still has the potential to control the growth of fungi and, to a more limited extent, aerobic bacteria in feed materials. Sodium formate is found in powder and liquid form, and in its liquid form, it has a greater amount of formic acid.
